Like today’s modern house, the children’s area of a library is also redefined in zones with equipment, design, and decoration. The librarian have to be smart to choose a good eye catching furnitures to attract the children’s attention to come and stay in the library. The best children’s library furnitures is not only sized with kids in mind, it’s also need to be colourful, appealing, and interesting. Children are more likely to visit the library and discover the joys of reading if they are attuned to the space. Some of the furniture that will be in our library are such below:
Children's Library Shelves
Children’s bookshelves come in several different heights and size to make sure the young readers can safely access to the books, magazines, and other library's materials. Its also often have deeper shelves for picture books and toys. To make the library an even more fun place to be, shelving can be combined with special seating, desks, and picture book boxes to create places that spark imagination. Some shelves can be converted into reading or play tables to intrigue and attract young readers with their unique shapes and colors.
Children's Seating (Chairs and tables)
Whether your library has a designated children’s room or simply an area, furniture sized specifically for children will not only help them to get a better experience when they access the library materials. Tables and chairs should be strong enough to withstand wear and tear, but light enough so that it can protect the children and can move them around easily too. Children’s seating comes in soft and hard varieties, and in colours who will also help the children to be more happy and delight to be in the library.
Children's Lounge and Soft Seating
Kids lounge seating creates a multitude of spaces for establishing privacy, collaboration or relaxation. The library need to create a cosy lounge and soft seating corner for the children to settle down with a book when they are feeling tired or need a different reading area. Importantly the way in which these areas are set up needs to be flexible and moveable. The textures and materials of the soft seating choosen properly because as we all know some children have allergic and their skin are sensitive to some fabrics like a fur and cotton furnitures.
Interactive Play
Interactive play is vital to a child’s development. Toys can provide educational features that encourages development in toddlers through motor skills, thinking skills, academics, and inspiring imagination. Safe toys for young children are well-made with no sharp parts or splinters, painted with nontoxic, lead-free paint, shatter-proof and can easily cleaned. In addition, when we are choosing toys for children under three years old, we will make sure there are no small parts or pieces that could become lodged in a child’s throat and cause suffocation.
Shoe racks
Shoe racks extremely functional in an entryway to help store the children’s sneakers, sandals or flip flops. By this way, our library are aiming to teach the kids to know about Malaysia’s culture who did not bring or wear their shoes when they enter a house or a building. There are two types of shoe racks that will be in our library which is the componibili drawer and the wooden storage bench
